Rose & Crown pub at the top of Newport Road. No longer a pub, unfortunately.

30-31 Joy Street. William Thomas’ Barnstaple Temperance Hotel –
81-83 Barnstaple High Street.
36 Barnstaple High Street, with about 100 years in between these images. Another unfortunate sign of the times – How high do rents & rates have to rise, and how many more out of town shopping areas have to be created, until the High Street consists of nothing other than characterless ropey old tat-mongers such as “Poundland”? Don’t think about it too hard, it’s actually quite depressing –
30 Barnstaple High Street. Quite a sad, sign of the times really. The shop in the modern day photo being a prime example of the type of business that manages to flourish in today’s economy.
