Here’s an old image of Barnstaple Square that works quite well as a “Then & Now” slider. Glance at the old image and you might think it looks almost identical to today. Swipe the slider left and right and you’ll notice plenty of changes – some subtle & some not so, like the extra storey sprouting up on top of the building in the middle there. JP.
Barnstaple’s train station, Then & Now. Quite a lovely vintage image, unfortunately today’s view of the same spot isn’t tremendously inspiring! I think it still makes an interesting “Then & Now” though, especially in this slider format! 🙂
Tucked away off of Church Lane in the middle of Barnstaple’s town centre – Horwood Alms Houses. Here’s a Then & Now composite of them… Never particularly easy taking these photos when you’ve got buildings so close either side, but I think it’s just about OK …. I hope you like it! JP.
An aerial photograph of Barnstaple from 1946, compared with a modern day view. Lots of differences to pick out – some a lot more glaring than others! 🙂

Rose & Crown pub at the top of Newport Road. No longer a pub, unfortunately.
